The everyday or almost everyday babblings of a Mama that lives along a Brook

Spiritual Sunday – 1/23/11

These verses are from A Radical Life Rooted in God’s Love – Part 1A of the new 10 week series we are doing at church and I felt the are very wise (well duh, it is from the Bible so it will be). If you are interested in this, please visit our church, we would love to have you. Faith Church in Orwigsburg PA.

“Just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to live in obedience to him. Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him.” Col. 2:6-7 (NLT)

“May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand…how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, through it is so great you will never fully understand it. THEN you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:17-19 (NLT)

“They don’t have deep roots, so they don’t last very long. As soon as life gets hard or the message gets them in trouble, they give up.” Matt. 13:21 (CEV)

I really enjoyed these scriptures and am very upset to have missed the sermon this morning. I totally agree…the deeper the roots the stronger the faith….the easier it is to get through the twists and turns that the world throws at you. A solid foundation in Christ. What a great thing to strive for daily!

    • Sue – I couldn’t agree more! I also missed some if not half of the sermon. UGH! Thom had an accident and mommy didn’t put extra clothes in the car since his last accident. OPPS! But I truly believe that Doug hit it on the head!!! I have been trying to work on growing my roots, it has been hard to find time but I am getting there.
